Serhan Turfan Speaks at “Türkiye’s 50 Most Powerful Procurement and Supply Leaders” Awards Ceremony

Organized by Ekonomist magazine with the support of KoçZer, the “Türkiye’s 50 Most Powerful Procurement and Supply Leaders” awards ceremony was held at the Rahmi M. Koç Museum on September 23. The event brought together senior procurement executives (CPOs) who manage significant procurement volumes, have a direct impact on their companies’ cost, risk, supply continuity and investment decisions, and rank among the top 50 on the Procurement Leaders list.

In his opening remarks, KoçZer General Manager Serhan Turfan addressed the evolving role of procurement. Emphasizing that, alongside cost discipline, resilience, decision quality, technology, people capabilities and the ability to create different options are becoming increasingly important, Turfan said: “I believe that, as procurement leaders, our role is not to make a single right choice on behalf of our companies, but rather to expand the range of right options available to them.”

Addressing 2027 as well, Turfan said: “We all have different scenarios and assumptions ahead of us. In the past, we might have focused on preparing perfectly for a single forecast. Today, however, we need to build organizations that can change direction when conditions change. I believe procurement and supply leadership is one of the most critical areas in building this organizational agility.”

Dr. Ahmet Çimenoğlu discussed what the outlook for the global and Turkish economies means for CPOs’ budget and procurement decisions. He also offered a perspective on the key economic indicators to monitor during the budgeting period under different macroeconomic scenarios.

The event concluded with the presentation of plaques to the leaders featured in the “Türkiye’s 50 Most Powerful Procurement and Supply Leaders” research, followed by a group photo.
